Flood Siren Test

31st August 2023 News

The Environment Agency will sound eight Flood Warning Sirens across the Upper Calder Valley on Thursday 28 September 2023 between 11:00am – 11:15am.

Sirens in Walsden, Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, and Mytholmroyd will sound for two minutes. When the sirens are sounded on this day it is a test. If the flood sirens are sounded at any other time it should be treated seriously and you should take action.

If the Environment Agency is in incident mode or poor weather is forecast on the day the test will be postponed until Thursday 12 October.

The flood siren test is run to check audibility of these key flood resilience measures whilst raising awareness of flood risk with affected communities. We will have staff present on the day near each of the flood sirens and in other public locations to provide flood advice and answer and questions.
