Weather alerts

Being weather aware is an important part of staying safe and prepared in the UK, where weather conditions can be unpredictable and sometimes severe.

One of the most important ways to stay weather aware in the UK is to keep a close eye on local weather forecasts. You can sign up to receive free email weather alerts from the MET Office. These alerts will tell you when heavy rain is on its way and could cause flooding.

Weather radars send out electromagnetic pulses to measure the location and intensity of precipitation, including rain, hail and snow, in real time. Check the rainfall radar here.
