White Claw Crayfish Open Day

14th August 2025 News

On August 21st, join us at Jerusalem Farm for a family-friendly event to learn about the rare white-claw crayfish. From 11am to 2pm you can discover the threats these creatures face and find out how we can help protect them.

Trained staff will safely catch crayfish from the brook for you to see up close before returning them to their home. This event is a collaboration between Calderdale Council, the Yorkshire Crayfish Forum, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, and the Environment Agency.

Please park at the lot off Luddenden Lane (what3words: fights.appealed.offline) and take a beautiful 30-minute walk through the Luddenden Valley. Small signs will mark the trail.

Limited parking is available at Jerusalem Farm, following the diversion signs. We ask that this parking be reserved for those with accessibility concerns or small children.
