Two years of the Calderdale Climate Action Plan

Calderdale has reached a two-year milestone since launching its first Climate Action Plan. Created alongside local experts and residents, the plan focuses on six key areas to build a greener, fairer borough.

Our Six Themes

  • Warm and Resilient Buildings: Creating energy-efficient, resilient homes.

  • Green Economy: Growing sustainable local businesses.

  • Land and Nature: Using our natural environment for long-term protection.

Success Stories: Highlights from the Past Year

Project Impact
Citizens’ Jury Practical ideas to help retrofit 75,000 older homes.
Repair Cafés Six local hubs now help residents fix items rather than throwing them away.
Tenant Power A partnership with Octopus Energy giving tenants cheaper electricity via solar and battery storage.
Green Business Local manufacturer Azo Limited now runs on solar power and an all-electric fleet.
Active Travel The ‘Beat the Street’ game turned North Halifax into a giant playground to encourage walking and cycling.
Community Nature Bridestones Moor is now Calderdale’s first community-owned nature space.
