The Friends of Centre Vale Park are restoring the park’s wetland area. The project will create a network of permanent ponds to help wildlife thrive.
After three years of planning, the project is ready to begin. A neglected area will be transformed into a wetland habitat with ponds, gentle banks and natural water features.
Wetlands are important for wildlife. They provide food, shelter and breeding areas for birds, insects, amphibians and many other species. .
Working with Calderdale Council’s Countryside Team, the project will improve and expand the existing wetland area. This first phase is an important step towards a long-term vision for wetlands in Centre Vale Park.
The project is supported by Todmorden Town Council’s Climate Emergency Committee and the Friends of Centre Vale Park.
Funding is being raised through a community crowdfunding campaign to help deliver the first phase.
