A New and Improved Flood Warning Service
When there’s a flood risk, the Environment Agency’s job is to warn and inform the public. If your home or business is at risk, you can get free flood alerts and warnings. These are official warnings from the Environment Agency, sent by text, phone, or email.
The system for these warnings is now being updated. The old “Sign up for flood warnings” service has reached the end of its life and can’t handle future challenges. This is an exciting chance to create a better, more modern service.
The new system, called “Get flood warnings,” will be launched on GOV.UK. This new platform is designed to be user-friendly and supports the Environment Agency’s goal of building a nation that is resilient to climate change.
What’s Changing?
- You don’t need to re-register. All existing accounts from the old “Sign up for flood warnings” service will be safely and automatically moved to the new “Get flood warnings” platform.
- The service name is changing. On GOV.UK, you will now see “Get Flood Warnings” instead of “Sign up for flood warnings.”
- The contact details will be different.
The Environment Agency plans to launch the new “Get flood warnings” service in Autumn 2025, just before the winter storm season.
