Be prepared this September with #30Days30WaysUK

1st September 2026 News

September is National Preparedness Month in the UK. It is a great time to check if you are ready for unexpected emergencies. Severe weather, power cuts, and travel delays happen. Knowing what to do before they strike makes a big difference.

This month, we are joining the #30Days30WaysUK campaign. Every day in September, they share easy tips and quick challenges. These help you, your family, and your business get prepared step by step.

Spotlight on 6th September: Flood Aware Day

Flooding is a major risk in our area. Being flood-aware means taking control before the water rises.

On 6th September, we want everyone to check their plans:

  • Get warnings: Sign up for free flood alerts by text, phone, or email.

  • Pack a ‘Grab Bag’: Keep essentials in a handy spot. Pack medicine, important papers, a torch, a phone charger, warm clothes, and a first-aid kit.

  • Make a plan: Agree on where your family will meet. Know how to protect your things (like moving them upstairs) and who to call.

Use Eye on Calderdale for comprehensive, localised guidance on flood risks, how to prepare your property, and what to do if flooding occurs.
