What are Community Support Hubs?
Community Support Hubs are set up in partnership with emergency services and other local partners. They provide a safe space where people can get help and advice during a crisis. In a flooding incident, your local Hub may offer clean-up equipment, food, general assistance, and emotional support.
Where are they located?
Community Support Hubs are established in response to emergencies, so their exact locations cannot be predetermined. The decision on where to set up a Hub will depend on the location, nature, and severity of the incident to ensure the safety of the public and staff. If a safe physical location cannot be established or the situation does not require an in-person Hub, virtual Hubs may be set up instead.
In some areas of the Upper Calder Valley, which are more frequently affected by floods, there are well-established plans for specific buildings to serve as Hubs.
How do I find out where my local Hub is?
In a flooding incident, please check Calderdale Council’s social media channels and the latest news section of this website for the locations of Community Support Hubs.
