Tree Health Centre

From Friday 24th September to Sunday 3rd October, the Yorkshire Arboretum will host a range of activities to launch the Tree Health Centre. Opportunity to see the new teaching space, a bug trail with take-home children’s activity book from the Animal and Plant Health Agency, and information from the Defra, Forestry Commission, Forestry England, Observatree and the RHS will be available throughout the launch week. 

Friday-Sunday each weekend will additionally include guided walks focussed on bug hunting, understanding the importance of trees, and brief tree health and biosecurity taster tours scheduled daily. Expert representatives from the above organisations will be available to learn from and tell you more about national tree health matters. On UK Fungi Day Saturday 2nd October there will be a special trees and fungi led walk.

  • Friday 24th September – Tree Health Talk – Nicola Spence – Responding to an Increasing Threat, Protecting the UK’s Trees from Plant Pests and Diseases
  • Thursday 7th October – evening Tree Health Talks – Neil Audlsey – Exotic Natural Enemies for the Biological Control of Tree Pests in England
  • Tuesday 5th October – An Advanced Fungi and Trees afternoon workshop from Barnes Associates and our local Mycologist Malcolm Greaves of – booking soon available.
