Invasive Species Week 16th – 22nd May 2022

This Invasive Non-Native Species Week we wanted to take the opportunity to share more information about invasive species in Calderdale, including what you can do to help stop the spread.

Invasive species outcompete our native species meaning that we don’t have the variety of plant life we need to support our wildlife. Invasive plants die back in the winter leaving riverbanks bare and unable to absorb rainwater, increasing our risk of flooding. They can also cause damage to our buildings, homes and other structures.
