Research Study

24th November 2021 News

Calderdale is a fantastic place to live and work, and a place of outstanding natural beauty. We have a strong social and economic connection to our rivers, but also a long history of flooding. These flooding events can happen very quickly. There is a real risk to life and damage to our properties and livelihoods. It is vital that we continue to strengthen our preparedness for this type of event and build our resilience.

This survey is being conducted by Isaac Dziya, who works as a Flood Resilience Partnership Manager for Calderdale Council, but this survey is being conducted as part of his PhD research at the University of Huddersfield. It will take, on average, 20 to 30 minutes to complete. This questionnaire survey is for business and residential property owners and tenants in the Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council’s geographic boundaries, including Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, and Mytholmroyd.

If you are a business and/or residential property owner or tenant in these areas, we would be grateful if you can spare some time to contribute to this research.  Your voice and opinion do matter. We know that 2020/21 has been a very challenging period for many people, but flood risk remains a significant challenge for the area.
