The latest picture regarding the weather is that light showers will continue until early afternoon but that this will have no impact on river levels which are receding slowly and no significant surface water flooding is expected.
The Environment Agency is keeping the current Flood Warnings in place as a precaution but these will come down later in the day and they are not expecting any issues for the remainder of the weekend.
The flooding issues experienced last night were primarily as a result of surface water flooding. Our gully cleaning crews were out cleaning the debris from affected areas yesterday and they are out again today, focusing on the upper valley area.
Whilst we are not anticipating further flooding in the next 24 hours, the Council and partners will be monitoring the situation and will respond should the situation change.
